You can also use a short URL (Get Short URL).
Short URLs often come with URL management and tracking.
(see QR Code Tracking)
With a short URL, you can keep using the same QR Code even if the long URL changes.
Click Show Tips for info on URLs for various platforms, social media and other content.
This
is the most common type of QR Code because it can lead mobile users to many types
of online content, such as a website, a YouTube
video or channel, Facebook,
Twitter, Google Play,
Amazon, Apple Music,
Spotify, an app, music, video, online store, Google Docs, PDF file, image file, online survey,
and other static, dynamic or interactive content.
Below are some tips to finding the right URL to use:
For Apple App Store or Apple Music products go to that product and copy the SHARE link.
For Google
Play products copy the Google Play URL for that product.
For a YouTube video, go to the YouTube
video and copy the SHARE link. Same method with other platforms and social media.
For a Google Calendar event, create/publish a calendar event using your Google Calendar account and copy the share link (URL).
For WhatsApp get your WhatsApp "Click-to-Chat" link at WhatsApp FAQ. You can also use this link when you are creating a QRickit QR Code for Contact Info (vCard) in the "Other Links" field.
Affiliate
and partner links can be used too.
You can use URLs with parameters that lead to dynamic (changing/interactive) content accordingly. (urlencode your URL)
An
easy way to track your QRickit is to get a short URL. Most have URL management and tracking (which you can use to track the related QR Code - when someone scans your QR Code and opens the URL it is the same as a click on your URL). This is also recommended
if your URL is very long (more than 100 characters). A short URL is basically a URL forwarder which redirects users to your original "long" URL. Find a URL shortener service that allows you to modify the original "long" URL associated with the short URL so you can keep using the same QR Code. If you will be printing your QR Code on your marketing materials or product packaging, it is a good idea to use a URL shortening (forwarding) service in case your long URL changes later so you don't have to reprint all your marketing materials with a new QR Code. If you manage your own server/website and know HTML programming, you can create your own URL forwarder with 1 line of HTML. Click here to see code.
For Google Analytics users, you can use both Google Analytics and Google
URL Builder to tag your links and track campaigns. A Google Analytics account
is required for this. (click
